Wee Jasper - A tiny piece of paradise

As we leave Canberra and drive through mountain hwy on our way to our next camp I stick my hand out of the window and feel the cool breeze hit my hand, I literarily feel tension melt away from my body, like a instant release of dopamine and serotonin, the feel good hormones through my brain and for the first time in nearly a week the realisation of what we are doing dawns on me, a year…
Canberra was very busy and it was another city after all, so I was really looking forward to a more relaxing time and like most times we are running late and we only arrived just after 8pm. Although we couldn’t really see the river very well we could hear it, and we parked just beside it. Only 3 other campers on this site, two left in the morning so pretty much had the whole river for ourselves. The river had lots of rocks and rapids, the kids spent literally the whole day riding the rapids using the boggie boards and Carlos and I just took it easy.

Micalong reserve has been so far the best camp site we have come across ( our second camp I know) , not free but only paid $30 a night, which is quite reasonable, clean and functional amenities, entertainment for the kids and just a piece of paradise with stunning views, kangaroos and water holes.
Once again, kindness of others, as one of the couples that were camping there and left the following morning after we arrived invited us to stop over on our way up and stay in their property at the Sunshine Coast, amazing. We stayed two nights at Wee Jasper, could have stayed a week, but we have to keep going as I needed to be in Bathurst by Monday. Definitely will be back to this site again.
